Within the framework of the Language Professionals Week 2010, the Grand rendez-vous des terminologues was held on 14 October 2010. The terminologists met from 6 pm to 7.30 pm at the headquarters of OTTIAQ (Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec) in Montreal.
As an established organisation in the field of terminology in Europe, TermNet (International Network for Terminology) is about to establish a chapter in Gatineau: TermNet America. One of the 50 TermNet members, Language Industry Association (AILIA), will house the new chapter at its premises, not far from the National Research Council’s Institute for Information Technology of Canada and the Language Technologies Research Centre, institute linked to the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO).
During her address at the Grand rendez-vous des terminologues, Ms Gabriele Sauberer, Executive Secretary TermNet, introduced the terminology network and, more specifically, the new chapter TermNet America. The latter will be established within the framework of the applied research project “International Centre of Excellence for Terminology: research, services and applications”. The main points highlighted during the address and discussed later on were the following: how to benefit from the TermNet chapter’s contribution in Gatineau and how to take part in the chapter’s activities and projects in Canada?
