TermNet - International network for terminology

TermNet is proud to announce that the New Zealand Society of Translators and Interpreters (NZSTI) has become new TermNet member

The New Zealand Society of Translators and Interpreters (NZSTI) is a nationally representative body of translators and interpreters that provides a networking forum for its members, represents members' interests, and promotes continued professional development, quality standards and awareness of the profession within government agencies and the wider community.

NZSTI favorises knowledge and use of sound terminology processes and systems amongst its members. To achieve this, NZSTI organizes terminology seminars and workshops at branch level as well as during its annual National Conference. It also keeps its members informed about courses in terminology available nationally and internationally, including online courses. Some of its most prominent members are involved in terminology research and lecturing.

Language professionals from all over the world are invited to come to the 2010 NZSTI Annual Conference to be held in Christchurch, New Zealand (10-11 July 2010). A major topic in recent years has been the progress of globalization and the resulting challenges and opportunities for the translating and interpreting professions. The global economic crisis has given a sharp additional twist to this topic, making clients increasingly conscious of their bottom line and confronting translators and interpreters with the challenge of how to survive. The Conference is intended to provide a forum for the exploration of these and related issues.
